Incredible Duck opener this year. Two days in a row my Dad and I limited on Mallards before 8:30 am. This is also the first year with the GoPro, so you could say this is a test film. Count the shots and how many ducks drop. Yep, I got a triple with two shots.
My blood brother has started building custom skateboards. Kemmco Cruisers are handmade cruiser style skateboards built in Fargo, ND by Tom Kemmer. Cruisers are the small, skinny sidewalk surfer your parents had in the 1960s. Updated with present day trucks and wheels, it gives you an enjoyable ride without having an obnoxious long board.
I came across a movie called The Devil’s Toy, (1966) the first Canadian film about skateboarding. After viewing, design ideas for Kemmco were in my head. Something about the part of the movie I used reminded me a of commercial. The cinematography and music are perfect together, so I didn’t do much except give it a bluish tint and slap a logo on it. I went pretty low-tech and recored the video and audio clips off my computer’s screen with an iphone set up on a tripod. I’m a ‘film maker’ now.
It’s spring time again, so that means Plains Art Museum’s Spring Gala is around the corner (May 4). If you go, my photograph Last Day of Summer II is up for grabs in the Art Auction. It would look charming over any couch, davenport, chesterfield, or love seat. Click on image for details.
Growing up in Fargo, I never got into Cat fishing on the Red River. Until now. It’s a great way to unwind after a days work. And another reason to drink beer outside. Its not for the faint of heart. The bait we use is the consistency of peanut butter and smells like vomit and shit. Mmmm, Cats love it.
